This website, from the Massachusetts advocacy group Health Care For All, has some extremely useful general tips for patient self-advocacy, along with specific information about Massachusetts hospital. Not everything is going to be applicable in every state, as patients' rights differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, but the suggestions about expressing concerns and filing complaints are well thought out and could come in handy for many.
