Chronic illness is no fun. If you're here, you already know that.

I’m Julia, and I've been living with chronic illness for more than a decade. My doctors are fantastic, my husband is beyond supportive, my friends are helpful and delightful, and it is still a struggle to get through every single day. This site is here to share the rants, resources, reviews, and ruminations I've created in my time as an angry invalid.

Getting the Best Mental Health Therapy Experience

Getting the Best Mental Health Therapy Experience

The website Scarleteen.com (one of the best sources out there for sexuality education aimed at teens) has a good feature by Sam Wall called “Getting the Most out of Therapy”. Wall covers the process in full, from finding a therapist to beginning your therapy up to switching therapists if needed. It’s a great overview that’s sorely needed.

Another resource worth looking at is the In Therapy blog at Psychology Today. Psychologist and professor, who writes the blog, goes behind the scenes of the therapeutic process in an attempt to demystify it for clients.

Getting help isn’t easy, even after you’ve cleared the logistical hurdles of finding a provider and figuring out how to pay for it. The resources above may help by giving a bit of a roadmap on what to expect.
